Since moving to the new premises the club has not had any sort of station for members to operate. That has all changed now!
The club meeting on Thursday saw the installation of coax feeds and switches. A 2m 70cm colinear antenna was installed during the previous weekend on the chimney stack on the roof.
The switching arrangement that has been installed means that both VHF/UHF and HF antennas can be switched between the shack room and the meeting room. This means that the 2 stations can be operated in separate rooms should the need arise.
The HF antenna needs minor repairs before it is installed but we got good reports on the 2m band from Bolton and Telford.
The club radio is soon to be upgraded from a Yaesu FT-2500m, which only does the 2m band, to an FT-7800 which does both 2m and 70cm.
The HF station will be operational in time for the JOTA special event weekend.
